Karen is an 18-year-old former Japanese policewoman of mixed Japanese and Caucasian descent. She was assigned to investigate illegal narcotics trafficking routes into Japan, eventually uncovering that the criminal syndicate Crime controlled the operation. Before she could assist ISSIS in destroying the routes, Crime arranged a fatal car accident.

A truck smashed into the taxi carrying Karen and her father, a fellow police officer. Miraculously, Karen survived, but she lost her right arm and her father was killed. Enraged, she willingly accepted Joker's offer to undergo bionic surgery and join J.A.K.Q. to exact her revenge.

Her bionic enhancements allow her to control magnetism. Dubbed her "Heart Cute Magnet Power," she can attract and repel metallic objects at will, frequently using her abilities to literally stop bullets in mid-air. Her powers are augmented by her Q-shaped Heart Cute weapon, which sends out waves of kinetic and magnetic energy to bowl over opponents or force them into erratic behaviors.

From her right index finger, she deploys the Magnetic Counter, a detection pulse that pinpoints metallic and organic objects like radar. A skilled martial artist trained at the Kono Karate School, she also has a strong flair for fashion, famously sporting red hot pants and knee-high boots. She falls in love with Goro towards the end of the series.
